DeSean Jackson doesn’t want Justin Jefferson to stay with the Vikings amid various rumors

Ever since star quarterback Kirk Cousins bid goodbye to the Minnesota Vikings, there has been a lot of chatter about another potential departure within the franchise– Justin Jefferson.

The Vikings were already dealing with a crisis in hand with their quarterback situation. And if Jefferson listens to wide receiver DeSean Jackson, who doesn’t believe he should stay in the Vikings after Cousins’ departure, then the franchise might face a major crisis with their offensive line, this upcoming offseason.

In a recent appearance on Kay Adams ’ Up & Adams Show, Jackson stated his opinion on whether or not Jefferson should request a trade from the Vikings, saying if he was in the wide receiver’s place, he wouldn’t sign the extension. Here is what he had to say:

If I am Justin [Jefferson] and I am in the situation too… I mean you know, kudos to the Vikings. You drafted me and I appreciate you but sign a fifth-year option when I have no security in a quarterbackI’m the top guy, you know what I am saying, I’m the best receiver in the league and I need a quarterback so why would I sign an extension and y’all ain’t showing me nothing? I need some type of hope so wouldn’t sign it either. DeSean Jackson said

The 37-year-old suggested Jefferson to try out the free agency market, where he would get a better deal and possibly a worthy quarterback to play with. Meanwhile, as per NFL Insider Dianna Russini, the wide receiver isn’t planning on leaving the Vikings.

Justin Jefferson aiming for a stellar return

With Kirk Cousins’ injury that kept him on the injury list for most of the last season, Jefferson joined the queue and played only 10 games. Although he logged more than 1,000 yards and five receiving touchdowns in those limited games, it wasn’t his best form.

The reason why the WR is insisting upon staying in the Vikings despite having no solid quarterback is because he intends to return to his form. He would be hoping to get back to his best soon.

His production last season was almost half of his best year, 2022 when he racked up 1809 yards, 128 catches, and eight touchdowns. As for now, he is signing a fifth-year option on his contract and preparing for a dominating season ahead.
