That was the case for Quarterbacks Coach\u00a0Josh McCown\u00a0for the Vikings.<\/p>\n<p>He was spotted at the presumed No. 1 overall pick\u00a0Caleb Williams\u2019 exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>Photos emerged of McCown near current analyst (and former USC quarterback)\u00a0Mark Sanchez\u00a0and standing alone ahead of the workout.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Minnesota Vikings quarterbacks coach Josh McCown in attendance here at USC pro day. They also met with him at the combine,\u00a0per NFL Network\u2019s Ian Rapoport\u00a0on February 28, before the planned encounter.<\/p>\n<p>The Vikings were but one of eight teams the former Trojans QB met with at the combine.<\/p>\n<p>They hold the second-latest pick in the first round among that group. I think people got an idea with\u00a0Justin Jefferson,\u00a0T.J. Hockenson,\u201d Addison said on February 8 to \u201cThe Viking Age\u201d podcast host Adam Patrick, who pitched the idea.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019d be scary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Of course, the Vikings\u2019 chances of getting into position to land Williams would seem infinitesimal. The division rival\u00a0Chicago Bears\u00a0hold the No. 1 overall pick. Chicago telegraphed their draft plans to at least select a quarterback, trading\u00a0Justin Fields\u00a0to the\u00a0Pittsburgh Steelers.<\/p>\n<p>Williams acknowledged at his pro day that \u201ca lot can change\u201d between now and the draft.<\/p>\n<p>Still, all\u00a0signs continue to point\u00a0to the Bears selecting Williams with the first overall pick on Day 1 of the draft on April 25.<\/p>\n<p>Even if the Vikings don\u2019t land Williams, there is still a sense that they won\u2019t sit idly by with this quarterback class. They also have strong connections to presumed No. 2 quarterback\u00a0Drake Maye. McCown coached in high school and\u00a0The Athletic\u2019s Alex Lewis says\u00a0they \u201cadore\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Maye\u2019s pro day\u00a0is set for March 28.<\/p>\n<p>That gives the Vikings and other prospective teams time to gather more information. But there\u2019s no doubt that the Minnesota Vikings are interested in a quarterback. There\u2019s no doubt that they are interested in trying to move up again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Vikings\u2019 other options include\u00a0J.J. McCarthy,\u00a0Bo Nix, and\u00a0Michael Penix Jr.<\/p>\n<p>Veteran\u00a0Sam Darnold\u00a0is set to enter the 2024 season as the starter.
